3:2 和合本 「你起來!往尼尼微大城去,向其中的居民宣告我所吩咐你的話。」
KJV Arise, go unto Nineveh, that great city, and preach unto it the preaching that I bid thee.
ASV Arise, go unto Nineveh, that great city, and preach unto it the preaching that I bid thee.
YLT `Rise, go unto Nineveh, the great city, and proclaim unto it the proclamation that I am speaking unto thee;'
BBE Up! go to Nineveh, that great town, and give it the word which I have given you.
WEB "Arise, go to Nineveh, that great city, and preach to it the message that I give you."
3:3 和合本 約拿便照耶和華的話起來,往尼尼微去。這尼尼微是極大的城,有三日的路程。
KJV So Jonah arose, and went unto Nineveh, according to the word of the LORD. Now Nineveh was an exceeding great city of three days' journey.
ASV So Jonah arose, and went unto Nineveh, according to the word of Jehovah. Now Nineveh was an exceeding great city, of three days' journey.
YLT and Jonah riseth, and he goeth unto Nineveh, according to the word of Jehovah. And Nineveh hath been a great city before God, a journey of three days.

3:4 和合本 約拿進城走了一日,宣告說:「再等四十日,尼尼微必傾覆了!」
KJV And Jonah began to enter into the city a day's journey, and he cried, and said, Yet forty days, and Nineveh shall be overthrown.
ASV And Jonah began to enter into the city a day's journey, and he cried, and said, Yet forty days, and Nineveh shall be overthrown.
YLT And Jonah beginneth to go in to the city a journey of one day, and proclaimeth, and saith, `Yet forty days -- and Nineveh is overturned.'
BBE And Jonah first of all went a day's journey into the town, and crying out said, In forty days destruction will overtake Nineveh.

3:5 和合本 尼尼微人信服神,便宣告禁食,從最大的到至小的都穿麻衣(或作:披上麻布)。
KJV So the people of Nineveh believed God, and proclaimed a fast, and put on sackcloth, from the greatest of them even to the least of them.
ASV And the people of Nineveh believed God; and they proclaimed a fast, and put on sackcloth, from the greatest of them even to the least of them.
YLT And the men of Nineveh believe in God, and proclaim a fast, and put on sackcloth, from their greatest even unto their least,
BBE And the people of Nineveh had belief in God; and a time was fixed for going without food, and they put on haircloth, from the greatest to the least.

3:6 和合本 這信息傳到尼尼微王的耳中,他就下了寶座,脫下朝服,披上麻布,坐在灰中。
KJV For word came unto the king of Nineveh, and he arose from his throne, and he laid his robe from him, and covered him with sackcloth, and sat in ashes.
ASV And the tidings reached the king of Nineveh, and he arose from his throne, and laid his robe from him, and covered him with sackcloth, and sat in ashes.
YLT seeing the word doth come unto the king of Nineveh, and he riseth from his throne, and removeth his honourable robe from off him, and spreadeth out sackcloth, and sitteth on the ashes,
BBE And the word came to the king of Nineveh, and he got up from his seat of authority, and took off his robe, and covering himself with haircloth, took his seat in the dust.
WEB The news reached the king of Nineveh, and he arose from his throne, and took off his royal robe, covered himself with sackcloth, and sat in ashes.
3:7 和合本 他又使人遍告尼尼微通城,說:「王和大臣有令,人不可嘗什麼,牲畜、牛羊不可吃草,也不可喝水。
KJV And he caused it to be proclaimed and published through Nineveh by the decree of the king and his nobles, saying, Let neither man nor beast, herd nor flock, taste any thing: let them not feed, nor drink water:
ASV And he made proclamation and published through Nineveh by the decree of the king and his nobles, saying, Let neither man nor beast, herd nor flock, taste anything; let them not feed, nor drink water;
YLT and he crieth and saith in Nineveh by a decree of the king and his great ones, saying, `Man and beast, herd and flock -- let them not taste anything, let them not feed, even water let them not drink;
BBE And he had it given out in Nineveh, By the order of the king and his great men, no man or beast, herd or flock, is to have a taste of anything; let them have no food or water:
WEB He made a proclamation and published through Nineveh by the decree of the king and his nobles, saying, "Let neither man nor animal, herd nor flock, taste anything; let them not feed, nor drink water;
3:8 和合本 人與牲畜都當披上麻布;人要切切求告神。各人回頭離開所行的惡道,丟棄手中的強暴。
KJV But let man and beast be covered with sackcloth, and cry mightily unto God: yea, let them turn every one from his evil way, and from the violence that is in their hands.
ASV but let them be covered with sackcloth, both man and beast, and let them cry mightily unto God: yea, let them turn every one from his evil way, and from the violence that is in his hands.
YLT and cover themselves `with' sackcloth let man and beast, and let them call unto God mightily, and let them turn back each from his evil way, and from the violence that `is' in their hands.
BBE And let man and beast be covered with haircloth, and let them make strong prayers to God: and let everyone be turned from his evil way and the violent acts of their hands.
WEB but let them be covered with sackcloth, both man and animal, and let them cry mightily to God. Yes, let them turn everyone from his evil way, and from the violence that is in his hands.
3:9 和合本 或者神轉意後悔,不發烈怒,使我們不至滅亡,也未可知。」
KJV Who can tell if God will turn and repent, and turn away from his fierce anger, that we perish not?
ASV Who knoweth whether God will not turn and repent, and turn away from his fierce anger, that we perish not?
YLT Who knoweth? He doth turn back, and God hath repented, and hath turned back from the heat of His anger, and we do not perish.'
BBE Who may say that God will not be turned, changing his purpose and turning away from his burning wrath, so that destruction may not overtake us?
WEB Who knows whether God will not turn and repent, and turn away from his fierce anger, so that we might not perish?"
3:10 和合本 於是神察看他們的行為,見他們離開惡道,他就後悔,不把所說的災禍降與他們了。
KJV And God saw their works, that they turned from their evil way; and God repented of the evil, that he had said that he would do unto them; and he did it not.
ASV And God saw their works, that they turned from their evil way; and God repented of the evil which he said he would do unto them; and he did it not.
YLT And God seeth their works, that they have turned back from their evil way, and God repenteth of the evil that He spake of doing to them, and he hath not done `it'.
BBE And God saw what they did, how they were turned from their evil way; and God's purpose was changed as to the evil which he said he would do to them, and he did it not.
WEB God saw their works, that they turned from their evil way. God repented of the evil which he said he would do to them, and he didn't do it.
