ASV asking a favor against him, that he would send for him to Jerusalem; laying a plot to kill him on the way.

25:4 和合本 非斯都卻回答說:「保羅押在該撒利亞,我自己快要往那裡去」;
KJV But Festus answered, that Paul should be kept at Caesarea, and that he himself would depart shortly thither.
ASV Howbeit Festus answered, that Paul was kept in charge at Caesarea, and that he himself was about to depart `thither' shortly.
YLT Then, indeed, Festus answered that Paul is kept in Caesarea, and himself is about speedily to go on thither,
BBE But Festus, in answer, said that Paul was being kept in prison at Caesarea, and that in a short time he himself was going there.
WEB However Festus answered that Paul should be kept in custody at Caesarea, and that he himself was about to depart shortly.
25:5 和合本 又說:「你們中間有權勢的人與我一同下去,那人若有什麼不是,就可以告他。」
KJV Let them therefore, said he, which among you are able, go down with me, and accuse this man, if there be any wickedness in him.
ASV Let them therefore, saith he, that are of power among you go down with me, and if there is anything amiss in the man, let them accuse him.
YLT `Therefore those able among you -- saith he -- having come down together, if there be anything in this man -- let them accuse him;'
BBE So, he said, let those who have authority among you go with me, and if there is any wrong in the man, let them make a statement against him.
WEB "Let them therefore," said he, "that are in power among you go down with me, and if there is anything wrong in the man, let them accuse him."
25:6 和合本 非斯都在他們那裡住了不過十天八天,就下該撒利亞去;第二天坐堂,吩咐將保羅提上來。
KJV And when he had tarried among them more than ten days, he went down unto Caesarea; and the next day sitting on the judgment seat commanded Paul to be brought.
ASV And when he had tarried among them not more than eight or ten days, he went down unto Caesarea; and on the morrow he sat on the judgment-seat, and commanded Paul to be brought.
YLT and having tarried among them more than ten days, having gone down to Caesarea, on the morrow having sat upon the tribunal, he commanded Paul to be brought;
BBE And when he had been with them not more than eight or ten days, he went down to Caesarea; and on the day after, he took his place on the judge's seat, and sent for Paul.

25:7 和合本 保羅來了,那些從耶路撒冷下來的猶太人周圍站著,將許多重大的事控告他,都是不能證實的。
KJV And when he was come, the Jews which came down from Jerusalem stood round about, and laid many and grievous complaints against Paul, which they could not prove.
ASV And when he was come, the Jews that had come down from Jerusalem stood round about him, bringing against him many and grievous charges which they could not prove;
YLT and he having come, there stood round about the Jews who have come down from Jerusalem -- many and weighty charges they are bringing against Paul, which they were not able to prove,

25:8 和合本 保羅分訴說:「無論猶太人的律法,或是聖殿,或是該撒,我都沒有干犯。」
KJV While he answered for himself, Neither against the law of the Jews, neither against the temple, nor yet against Caesar, have I offended any thing at all.
ASV while Paul said in his defense, Neither against the law of the Jews, nor against the temple, nor against Caesar, have I sinned at all.
YLT he making defence -- `Neither in regard to the law of the Jews, nor in regard to the temple, nor in regard to Caesar -- did I commit any sin.'
BBE Then Paul, in his answer to them, said, I have done no wrong against the law of the Jews, or against the Temple, or against Caesar.
WEB while he said in his defense, "Neither against the law of the Jews, nor against the temple, nor against Caesar, have I sinned at all."
25:9 和合本 但非斯都要討猶太人的喜歡,就問保羅說:「你願意上耶路撒冷去,在那裡聽我審斷這事嗎?」
KJV But Festus, willing to do the Jews a pleasure, answered Paul, and said, Wilt thou go up to Jerusalem, and there be judged of these things before me?
ASV But Festus, desiring to gain favor with the Jews, answered Paul and said, Wilt thou go up to Jerusalem, and there be judged of these things before me?
YLT And Festus willing to lay on the Jews a favour, answering Paul, said, `Art thou willing, to Jerusalem having gone up, there concerning these things to be judged before me?'
BBE But Festus, desiring to get the approval of the Jews, said to Paul, Will you go up to Jerusalem, and be judged before me there in connection with these things?
WEB But Festus, desiring to gain favor with the Jews, answered Paul and said, "Are you willing to go up to Jerusalem, and be judged by me there concerning these things?"
25:10 和合本 保羅說:「我站在該撒的堂前,這就是我應當受審的地方。我向猶太人並沒有行過什麼不義的事,這也是你明明知道的。
KJV Then said Paul, I stand at Caesar's judgment seat, where I ought to be judged: to the Jews have I done no wrong, as thou very well knowest.
ASV But Paul said, I am standing before Caesar's judgment-seat, where I ought to be judged: to the Jews have I done no wrong, as thou also very well knowest.
YLT and Paul said, `At the tribunal of Caesar I am standing, where it behoveth me to be judged; to Jews I did no unrighteousness, as thou dost also very well know;
BBE And Paul said, I am before the seat of Caesar's authority where it is right for me to be judged: I have done no wrong to the Jews, as you are well able to see.
WEB But Paul said, "I am standing before Caesar's judgment seat, where I ought to be tried. I have done no wrong to the Jews, as you also know very well.
25:11 和合本 我若行了不義的事,犯了什麼該死的罪,就是死,我也不辭。他們所告我的事若都不實,就沒有人可以把我交給他們。我要上告於該撒。」
KJV For if I be an offender, or have committed any thing worthy of death, I refuse not to die: but if there be none of these things whereof these accuse me, no man may deliver me unto them. I appeal unto Caesar.
ASV If then I am a wrong-doer, and have committed anything worthy of death, I refuse not to die; but if none of those things is `true' whereof these accuse me, no man can give me up unto them. I appeal unto Caesar.
YLT for if indeed I am unrighteous, and anything worthy of death have done, I deprecate not to die; and if there is none of the things of which these accuse me, no one is able to make a favour of me to them; to Caesar I appeal!'
BBE If, then, I am a wrongdoer and there is a cause of death in me, I am ready for death: if it is not as they say against me, no man may give me up to them. Let my cause come before Caesar.
WEB For if I have done wrong, and have committed anything worthy of death, I don't refuse to die; but if none of those things is true that they accuse me of, no one can give me up to them. I appeal to Caesar!"
25:12 和合本 非斯都和議會商量了,就說:「你既上告於該撒,可以往該撒那裡去。」
KJV Then Festus, when he had conferred with the council, answered, Hast thou appealed unto Caesar? unto Caesar shalt thou go.
ASV Then Festus, when he had conferred with the council, answered, Thou hast appealed unto Caesar: unto Caesar shalt thou go.
YLT then Festus, having communed with the council, answered, `To Caesar thou hast appealed; to Caesar thou shalt go.'
BBE Then Festus, having had a discussion with the Jews, made answer, You have said, Let my cause come before Caesar; to Caesar you will go.

25:13 和合本 過了些日子,亞基帕王和百尼基氏來到該撒利亞,問非斯都安。
KJV And after certain days king Agrippa and Bernice came unto Caesarea to salute Festus.
ASV Now when certain days were passed, Agrippa the King and Bernice arrived at Caesarea, and saluted Festus.
YLT And certain days having passed, Agrippa the king, and Bernice, came down to Caesarea saluting Festus,
BBE Now when some days had gone by, King Agrippa and Bernice came to Caesarea and went to see Festus.
WEB Now when some days had passed, Agrippa the King and Bernice arrived at Caesarea, and greeted Festus.
25:14 和合本 在那裡住了多日,非斯都將保羅的事告訴王,說:「這裡有一個人,是腓力斯留在監裡的。
KJV And when they had been there many days, Festus declared Paul's cause unto the king, saying, There is a certain man left in bonds by Felix:
ASV And as they tarried there many days, Festus laid Paul's case before the King, saying, There is a certain man left a prisoner by Felix;
YLT and as they were continuing there more days, Festus submitted to the king the things concerning Paul, saying, `There is a certain man, left by Felix, a prisoner,
BBE And as they were there for some days, Festus gave them Paul's story, saying, There is a certain man here who was put in prison by Felix:

25:15 和合本 我在耶路撒冷的時候,祭司長和猶太的長老將他的事稟報了我,求我定他的罪。
KJV About whom, when I was at Jerusalem, the chief priests and the elders of the Jews informed me, desiring to have judgment against him.
ASV about whom, when I was at Jerusalem, the chief priests and the elders of the Jews informed `me', asking for sentence against him.
YLT about whom, in my being at Jerusalem, the chief priests and the elders of the Jews laid information, asking a decision against him,

25:16 和合本 我對他們說,無論什麼人,被告還沒有和原告對質,未得機會分訴所告他的事,就先定他的罪,這不是羅馬人的條例。
KJV To whom I answered, It is not the manner of the Romans to deliver any man to die, before that he which is accused have the accusers face to face, and have licence to answer for himself concerning the crime laid against him.
ASV To whom I answered, that it is not the custom of the Romans to give up any man, before that the accused have the accusers face to face, and have had opportunity to make his defense concerning the matter laid against him.
YLT unto whom I answered, that it is not a custom of Romans to make a favour of any man to die, before that he who is accused may have the accusers face to face, and may receive place of defence in regard to the charge laid against `him'.
BBE To whom I gave answer that it is not the Roman way to give a man up, till he has been face to face with those who are attacking him, and has had a chance to give an answer to the statements made against him.
WEB To whom I answered that it is not the custom of the Romans to give up any man to destruction, before the accused has met the accusers face to face, and has had opportunity to make his defense concerning the matter laid against him.
25:17 和合本 及至他們都來到這裡,我就不耽延,第二天便坐堂,吩咐把那人提上來。
KJV Therefore, when they were come hither, without any delay on the morrow I sat on the judgment seat, and commanded the man to be brought forth.
ASV When therefore they were come together here, I made no delay, but on the next day sat on the judgment-seat, and commanded the man to be brought.
YLT `They, therefore, having come together -- I, making no delay, on the succeeding `day' having sat upon the tribunal, did command the man to be brought,
BBE So, when they had come together here, straight away, on the day after, I took my place on the judge's seat and sent for the man.

25:18 和合本 告他的人站著告他;所告的,並沒有我所逆料的那等惡事。
KJV Against whom when the accusers stood up, they brought none accusation of such things as I supposed:

KJV And because I doubted of such manner of questions, I asked him whether he would go to Jerusalem, and there be judged of these matters.
ASV And I, being perplexed how to inquire concerning these things, asked whether he would go to Jerusalem and there be judged of these matters.
YLT and I, doubting in regard to the question concerning this, said, If he would wish to go on to Jerusalem, and there to be judged concerning these things --
BBE And as I had not enough knowledge for the discussion of these things, I made the suggestion to him to go to Jerusalem and be judged there.
WEB Being perplexed how to inquire concerning these things, I asked whether he was willing to go to Jerusalem and there be judged concerning these matters.
25:21 和合本 但保羅求我留下他,要聽皇上審斷,我就吩咐把他留下,等我解他到該撒那裡去。」
KJV But when Paul had appealed to be reserved unto the hearing of Augustus, I commanded him to be kept till I might send him to Caesar.
ASV But when Paul had appealed to be kept for the decision of the emperor, I commanded him to be kept till I should send him to Caesar.
YLT but Paul having appealed to be kept to the hearing of Sebastus, I did command him to be kept till I might send him unto Caesar.'
BBE But when Paul made a request that he might be judged by Caesar, I gave orders for him to be kept till I might send him to Caesar.

25:22 和合本 亞基帕對非斯都說:「我自己也願聽這人辯論。」非斯都說:「明天你可以聽。」
KJV Then Agrippa said unto Festus, I would also hear the man myself. To morrow, said he, thou shalt hear him.
ASV And Agrippa `said' unto Festus, I also could wish to hear the man myself. To-morrow, saith he, thou shalt hear him.
YLT And Agrippa said unto Festus, `I was wishing also myself to hear the man;' and he said, `To-morrow thou shalt hear him;'
BBE And Agrippa said to Festus, I have a desire to give the man a hearing myself. Tomorrow, he said, you may give him a hearing.

25:23 和合本 第二天,亞基帕和百尼基大張威勢而來,同著眾千夫長和城裡的尊貴人進了公廳。非斯都吩咐一聲,就有人將保羅帶進來。
KJV And on the morrow, when Agrippa was come, and Bernice, with great pomp, and was entered into the place of hearing, with the chief captains, and principal men of the city, at Festus' commandment Paul was brought forth.
ASV So on the morrow, when Agrippa was come, and Bernice, with great pomp, and they were entered into the place of hearing with the chief captains and principal men of the city, at the command of Festus Paul was brought in.
YLT on the morrow, therefore -- on the coming of Agrippa and Bernice with much display, and they having entered into the audience chamber, with the chief captains also, and the principal men of the city, and Festus having ordered -- Paul was brought forth.
BBE So on the day after, when Agrippa and Bernice in great glory had come into the public place of hearing, with the chief of the army and the chief men of the town, at the order of Festus, Paul was sent for.

KJV And Festus said, King Agrippa, and all men which are here present with us, ye see this man, about whom all the multitude of the Jews have dealt with me, both at Jerusalem, and also here, crying that he ought not to live any longer.
ASV And Festus saith, King Agrippa, and all men who are here present with us, ye behold this man, about whom all the multitude of the Jews made suit to me, both at Jerusalem and here, crying that he ought not to live any longer.
YLT And Festus said, `King Agrippa, and all men who are present with us, ye see this one, about whom all the multitude of the Jews did deal with me, both in Jerusalem and here, crying out, He ought not to live any longer;
BBE And Festus said, King Agrippa, and all those who are present here with us, you see this man, about whom all the Jews have made protests to me, at Jerusalem and in this place, saying that it is not right for him to be living any longer.

25:25 和合本 但我查明他沒有犯什麼該死的罪,並且他自己上告於皇帝,所以我定意把他解去。
KJV But when I found that he had committed nothing worthy of death, and that he himself hath appealed to Augustus, I have determined to send him.
ASV But I found that he had committed nothing worthy of death: and as he himself appealed to the emperor I determined to send him.
YLT and I, having found him to have done nothing worthy of death, and he also himself having appealed to Sebastus, I decided to send him,
BBE But, in my opinion, there is no cause of death in him, and as he himself has made a request to be judged by Caesar, I have said that I would send him.

25:26 和合本 論到這人,我沒有確實的事可以奏明主上。因此,我帶他到你們面前,也特意帶他到你亞基帕王面前,為要在查問之後有所陳奏。
KJV Of whom I have no certain thing to write unto my lord. Wherefore I have brought him forth before you, and specially before thee, O king Agrippa, that, after examination had, I might have somewhat to write.
ASV Of whom I have no certain thing to write unto my lord. Wherefore I have brought him forth before you, and specially before thee, king Agrippa, that, after examination had, I may have somewhat to write.
YLT concerning whom I have no certain thing to write to `my' lord, wherefore I brought him forth before you, and specially before thee, king Agrippa, that the examination having been made, I may have something to write;

25:27 和合本 據我看來,解送囚犯,不指明他的罪案是不合理的。」
KJV For it seemeth to me unreasonable to send a prisoner, and not withal to signify the crimes laid against him.
ASV For it seemeth to me unreasonable, in sending a prisoner, not withal to signify the charges against him.
YLT for it doth seem to me irrational, sending a prisoner, not also to signify the charges against him.'
BBE For it seems to me against reason to send a prisoner without making clear what there is against him.
WEB For it seems to me unreasonable, in sending a prisoner, not to also specify the charges against him."
