雅各書 第1章

雅各書雖然篇幅短小，容易被信徒忽略，但它的信息卻對今天的信徒帶來極大的挑戰。

有些信徒經常談論愛，可是，卻不懂得與其他信徒相處；他們需要細讀雅各書。有些信徒喜歡談論聖潔，但自己的生活卻毫不聖潔；他們同樣需要細讀雅各書。有些信徒對其他信徒的態度，完全有違基督的教導，他們必須細讀雅各書。事實上，所有信徒都必須研讀此書，並實踐當中的教訓。

本書的作者雅各，是耶穌的弟弟。基督復活之後，他才成了一個真正的信徒。他在教會之中深受信徒的敬重；從他被人起了一個叫做「駱駝膝蓋」的外號，就知道他是一個經常跪下來禱告的信徒。

雅各在書信的一開始就談論受苦和試煉的問題，似乎任何一個時代的信徒都面對這個困擾，我們今天也不例外。但雅各的教導卻出人意表，他說：我們能夠為主受苦，是我們的榮幸，所以應當喜樂。然而，我們怎可能在苦難中喜樂呢？秘訣在於相信神讓我們受苦，必定有神的心意，而神的心意一定是為了我們的益處。但受苦有何益處呢？

首先，我們的信心經過苦難的考驗，會變得堅定和成熟，以致結出更多聖靈的果子，例如忍耐和恩慈。我們必須相信，臨到我們身上的任何試煉和考驗，都得到神的允許，為的是使我們在靈命上得以成長和進步。

你還是很難明白苦難的意義嗎？那麼，請再讀第5節一遍。雅各的意思是說：「求神賜你智慧，讓你明白神的計劃和心意。只要你向祂祈求，祂必應允賜你。不過，切記要持定信心，不要懷疑神的愛，或懷疑神不會應允你。神是你的父，你是祂的兒女，祂當然不會不理你！」

你不明白神的心意嗎？為何不求神賜你智慧去認識祂的心意呢？神是信實的，祂必然兌現祂的應許。

CHRISTIAN FAITH IN ACTION

One book in the New Testament that is not often studied is the short epistle by James. Yet these five chapters have a challenging message for Christian today.

Some Christians talk about love, but cannot get along with other Christians. They need to read the book of James. Some talk about holiness, but do not live holy lives. They too need to read the epistle. Some talk about other Christians in ways that are not Christlike. They ought to read what James has written. Every Christian needs to study this little book.

James was the brother of Jesus. He became a real believer in Christ after the resurrection. He was well respected by the whole church and was a great man of prayer. We are told he had the nickname Camel-knees because he spent too much time kneeling in prayer.

The first subject James deals with is the fact of suffering and trial. That sounds rather up-to-date, doesnt it? What does James say? It is a privilege to suffer for Christs sake. But how can we benefit from suffering? By looking for Gods purposes in it.

First of all, suffering will help our faith to grow and help produce more of the fruit of the Spirit. We should realise that the temptations and testings which come to us are allowed by God for our good and for our spiritual growth.

Is it hard for you to see this? Then read verse 5 again. James is saying to us Ask God for wisdom to enable you to see the plans and purposes of God. He will give you what you ask for, but remember to do it in strong faith. Dont doubt Gods love or his willingness to answer you. God is your Father and you are his child!

Why not ask God for his help now to enable you to see more clearly what his plan for your life is today?
