How to Have a Good Nights Sleep

Bible Reading: Psalm 3

The Psalms give us glimpses into the inner life of David that the books of history in the Old Testament do not give. For example, the story behind this Psalm is found in 2 Samuel 15:30-31. David was on the throne at last, but his troubles were not over by any means.
This time it was one of his own sons, Absalom, who had turned against him. It is always hardest when our own family makes it hard for us to do what God wants us to do. What could David do? What can we learn from him?

David was absolutely sure that God was still near him and heard him when he called. God had not left him. As often as he cried, God heard him.

The result of this faith was peace. In fact he was so much as peace that he slept very well that night! The order of events was, I cried, God heard, I slept! Have you always been able to say that? Or have you stayed awake worrying about what you are going to do or thinking about what God is going to do?

For David everything got worse before he was restored to the throne. Even his son was killed, though David had done everything he could to prevent that happening. But David never lost his faith in God and God brought him through.

Remember, with God the way is always through, even though your way may be dark and things seem to be only getting worse. God is always near. He always hears your cry.

Think About This:

The will of God will never lead you where the grace of God cannot keep you.
