2:1 和合本 從前在百姓中有假先知起來,將來在你們中間也必有假師傅,私自引進陷害人的異端,連買他們的主他們也不承認,自取速速的滅亡。
KJV But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction.
ASV But there arose false prophets also among the people, as among you also there shall be false teachers, who shall privily bring in destructive heresies, denying even the Master that bought them, bringing upon themselves swift destruction.
YLT And there did come also false prophets among the people, as also among you there shall be false teachers, who shall bring in besides destructive sects, and the Master who bought them denying, bringing to themselves quick destruction,
BBE But there were false prophets among the people, as there will be false teachers among you, who will secretly put forward wrong teachings for your destruction, even turning away from the Lord who gave himself for them; whose destruction will come quickly, and they themselves will be the cause of it.
WEB But there also arose false prophets among the people, as among you also there will be false teachers, who will secretly bring in destructive heresies, denying even the Master who bought them, bringing on themselves swift destruction.
2:2 和合本 將有許多人隨從他們邪淫的行為,便叫真道因他們的緣故被毀謗。
KJV And many shall follow their pernicious ways; by reason of whom the way of truth shall be evil spoken of.
ASV And many shall follow their lascivious doings; by reason of whom the way of the truth shall be evil spoken of.
YLT and many shall follow out their destructive ways, because of whom the way of the truth shall be evil spoken of,
BBE And a great number will go with them in their evil ways, through whom the true way will have a bad name.
WEB Many will follow their immoral ways, and as a result, the way of the truth will be maligned.
2:3 和合本 他們因有貪心,要用捏造的言語在你們身上取利。他們的刑罰,自古以來並不遲延;他們的滅亡也必速速來到(原文作不打盹)。
KJV And through covetousness shall they with feigned words make merchandise of you: whose judgment now of a long time lingereth not, and their damnation slumbereth not.
ASV And in covetousness shall they with feigned words make merchandise of you: whose sentence now from of old lingereth not, and their destruction slumbereth not.
YLT and in covetousness, with moulded words, of you they shall make merchandise, whose judgment of old is not idle, and their destruction doth not slumber.
BBE And in their desire for profit they will come to you with words of deceit, like traders doing business in souls: whose punishment has been ready for a long time and their destruction is watching for them.
WEB In covetousness they will exploit you with deceptive words: whose sentence now from of old doesn't linger, and their destruction will not slumber.
2:4 和合本 就是天使犯了罪,神也沒有寬容,曾把他們丟在地獄,交在黑暗坑中,等候審判。
KJV For if God spared not the angels that sinned, but cast them down to hell, and delivered them into chains of darkness, to be reserved unto judgment;
ASV For if God spared not angels when they sinned, but cast them down to hell, and committed them to pits of darkness, to be reserved unto judgment;
YLT For if God messengers who sinned did not spare, but with chains of thick gloom, having cast `them' down to Tartarus, did deliver `them' to judgment, having been reserved,
BBE For if God did not have pity for the angels who did evil, but sent them down into hell, to be kept in chains of eternal night till they were judged;

2:5 和合本 神也沒有寬容上古的世代,曾叫洪水臨到那不敬虔的世代,卻保護了傳義道的挪亞一家八口。
KJV And spared not the old world, but saved Noah the eighth person, a preacher of righteousness, bringing in the flood upon the world of the ungodly;
ASV and spared not the ancient world, but preserved Noah with seven others, a preacher of righteousness, when he brought a flood upon the world of the ungodly;
YLT and the old world did not spare, but the eighth person, Noah, of righteousness a preacher, did keep, a flood on the world of the impious having brought,
BBE And did not have mercy on the world which then was, but only kept safe Noah, a preacher of righteousness, with seven others, when he let loose the waters over the world of the evil-doers;

2:6 和合本 又判定所多瑪、蛾摩拉,將二城傾覆,焚燒成灰,作為後世不敬虔人的鑑戒;
KJV And turning the cities of Sodom and Gomorrha into ashes condemned them with an overthrow, making them an ensample unto those that after should live ungodly;
ASV and turning the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah into ashes condemned them with an overthrow, having made them an example unto those that should live ungodly;
YLT and the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah having turned to ashes, with an overthrow did condemn, an example to those about to be impious having set `them';
BBE And sent destruction on Sodom and Gomorrah, burning them up with fire as an example to those whose way of life might in the future be unpleasing to him;
WEB and turning the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah into ashes, condemned them to destruction, having made them an example to those who would live ungodly;
2:7 和合本 只搭救了那常為惡人淫行憂傷的義人羅得。
KJV And delivered just Lot, vexed with the filthy conversation of the wicked:
ASV and delivered righteous Lot, sore distressed by the lascivious life of the wicked
YLT and righteous Lot, worn down by the conduct in lasciviousness of the impious, He did rescue,
BBE And kept safe Lot, the upright man, who was deeply troubled by the unclean life of the evil-doers

2:8 和合本 因為那義人住在他們中間,看見聽見他們不法的事,他的義心就天天傷痛。
KJV (For that righteous man dwelling among them, in seeing and hearing, vexed his righteous soul from day to day with their unlawful deeds;)
ASV (for that righteous man dwelling among them, in seeing and hearing, vexed `his' righteous soul from day to day with `their' lawless deeds):
YLT for in seeing and hearing, the righteous man, dwelling among them, day by day the righteous soul with unlawful works was harassing.
BBE (Because the soul of that upright man living among them was pained from day to day by seeing and hearing their crimes):

2:9 和合本 主知道搭救敬虔的人脫離試探,把不義的人留在刑罰之下,等候審判的日子。
KJV The Lord knoweth how to deliver the godly out of temptations, and to reserve the unjust unto the day of judgment to be punished:
ASV the Lord knoweth how to deliver the godly out of temptation, and to keep the unrighteous under punishment unto the day of judgment;
YLT The Lord hath known to rescue pious ones out of temptation, and unrighteous ones to a day of judgment, being punished, to keep,
BBE The Lord is able to keep the upright safe in the time of testing, and to keep evil-doers under punishment till the day of judging;
WEB the Lord knows how to deliver the godly out of temptation and to keep the unrighteous under punishment for the day of judgment;
2:10 和合本 那些隨肉身、縱污穢的情慾、輕慢主治之人的,更是如此。他們膽大任性,毀謗在尊位的,也不知懼怕。
KJV But chiefly them that walk after the flesh in the lust of uncleanness, and despise government. Presumptuous are they, selfwilled, they are not afraid to speak evil of dignities.
ASV but chiefly them that walk after the flesh in the lust of defilement, and despise dominion. Daring, self-willed, they tremble not to rail at dignities:
YLT and chiefly those going behind the flesh in desire of uncleanness, and lordship despising; presumptuous, self-complacent, dignities they are not afraid to speak evil of,
BBE But specially those who go after the unclean desires of the flesh, and make sport of authority. Ready to take chances, uncontrolled, they have no fear of saying evil of those in high places:
WEB but chiefly those who walk after the flesh in the lust of defilement, and despise authority. Daring, self-willed, they are not afraid to speak evil of dignitaries;
2:11 和合本 就是天使,雖然力量權能更大,還不用毀謗的話在主面前告他們。
KJV Whereas angels, which are greater in power and might, bring not railing accusation against them before the Lord.
ASV whereas angels, though greater in might and power, bring not a railing judgment against them before the Lord.
YLT whereas messengers, in strength and power being greater, do not bear against them before the Lord an evil speaking judgment;
BBE Though the angels, who are greater in strength and power, do not make use of violent language against them before the Lord.

2:12 和合本 但這些人好像沒有靈性,生來就是畜類,以備捉拿宰殺的。他們毀謗所不曉得的事,正在敗壞人的時候,自己必遭遇敗壞。
KJV But these, as natural brute beasts, made to be taken and destroyed, speak evil of the things that they understand not; and shall utterly perish in their own corruption;
ASV But these, as creatures without reason, born mere animals to be taken and destroyed, railing in matters whereof they are ignorant, shall in their destroying surely be destroyed,
YLT and these, as irrational natural beasts, made to be caught and destroyed -- in what things they are ignorant of, speaking evil -- in their destruction shall be destroyed,
BBE But these men, like beasts without reason, whose natural use is to be taken and put to death, crying out against things of which they have no knowledge, will undergo that same destruction which they are designing for others;
WEB But these, as unreasoning creatures, born natural animals to be taken and destroyed, speaking evil in matters about which they are ignorant, will in their destroying surely be destroyed,
2:13 和合本 行的不義,就得了不義的工價。這些人喜愛白晝宴樂,他們已被玷污,又有瑕疵,正與你們一同坐席,就以自己的詭詐為快樂。
KJV And shall receive the reward of unrighteousness, as they that count it pleasure to riot in the day time. Spots they are and blemishes, sporting themselves with their own deceivings while they feast with you;
ASV suffering wrong as the hire of wrong-doing; `men' that count it pleasure to revel in the day-time, spots and blemishes, revelling in their deceivings while they feast with you;
YLT about to receive a reward of unrighteousness, pleasures counting the luxury in the day, spots and blemishes, luxuriating in their deceits, feasting with you,
BBE For the evil which overtakes them is the reward of their evil-doing: such men take their pleasure in the delights of the flesh even in the daytime; they are like the marks of a disease, like poisoned wounds among you, feasting together with you in joy;
WEB receiving the wages of unrighteousness; people who count it pleasure to revel in the daytime, spots and blemishes, reveling in their deceit while they feast with you;
2:14 和合本 他們滿眼是淫色(原文作淫婦),止不住犯罪,引誘那心不堅固的人,心中習慣了貪婪,正是被咒詛的種類。
KJV Having eyes full of adultery, and that cannot cease from sin; beguiling unstable souls: an heart they have exercised with covetous practices; cursed children:
ASV having eyes full of adultery, and that cannot cease from sin; enticing unstedfast souls; having a heart exercised in covetousness; children of cursing;
YLT having eyes full of adultery, and unable to cease from sin, enticing unstable souls, having an heart exercised in covetousnesses, children of a curse,
BBE Having eyes full of evil desire, never having enough of sin; turning feeble souls out of the true way; they are children of cursing, whose hearts are well used to bitter envy;

2:15 和合本 他們離棄正路,就走差了,隨從比珥之子巴蘭的路。巴蘭就是那貪愛不義之工價的先知,
KJV Which have forsaken the right way, and are gone astray, following the way of Balaam the son of Bosor, who loved the wages of unrighteousness;
ASV forsaking the right way, they went astray, having followed the way of Balaam the `son' of Beor, who loved the hire of wrong-doing;
YLT having forsaken a right way, they did go astray, having followed in the way of Balaam the `son' of Bosor, who a reward of unrighteousness did love,
BBE Turning out of the true way, they have gone wandering in error, after the way of Balaam, the son of Beor, who was pleased to take payment for wrongdoing;
WEB forsaking the right way, they went astray, having followed the way of Balaam the son of Beor, who loved the wages of wrong-doing;
2:16 和合本 他卻為自己的過犯受了責備;那不能說話的驢以人言攔阻先知的狂妄。
KJV But was rebuked for his iniquity: the dumb ass speaking with man's voice forbad the madness of the prophet.
ASV but he was rebuked for his own transgression: a dumb ass spake with man's voice and stayed the madness of the prophet.
YLT and had a rebuke of his own iniquity -- a dumb ass, in man's voice having spoken, did forbid the madness of the prophet.
BBE But his wrongdoing was pointed out to him: an ass, talking with a man's voice, put a stop to the error of the prophet.
WEB but he was rebuked for his own disobedience. A mute donkey spoke with man's voice and stopped the madness of the prophet.
2:17 和合本 這些人是無水的井,是狂風催逼的霧氣,有墨黑的幽暗為他們存留。
KJV These are wells without water, clouds that are carried with a tempest; to whom the mist of darkness is reserved for ever.
ASV These are springs without water, and mists driven by a storm; for whom the blackness of darkness hath been reserved.
YLT These are wells without water, and clouds by a tempest driven, to whom the thick gloom of the darkness to the age hath been kept;
BBE These are fountains without water, and mists before a driving storm; for whom the eternal night is kept in store.
WEB These are wells without water, clouds driven by a storm; for whom the blackness of darkness has been reserved forever.
2:18 和合本 他們說虛妄矜誇的大話,用肉身的情慾和邪淫的事引誘那些剛才脫離妄行的人。
KJV For when they speak great swelling words of vanity, they allure through the lusts of the flesh, through much wantonness, those that were clean escaped from them who live in error.
ASV For, uttering great swelling `words' of vanity, they entice in the lusts of the flesh, by lasciviousness, those who are just escaping from them that live in error;
YLT for overswellings of vanity speaking, they do entice in desires of the flesh -- lasciviousnesses, those who had truly escaped from those conducting themselves in error,
BBE For with high-sounding false words, making use of the attraction of unclean desires of the flesh, they get into their power those newly made free from those who are living in error;
WEB For, uttering great swelling words of emptiness, they entice in the lusts of the flesh, by licentiousness, those who are indeed escaping from those who live in error;
2:19 和合本 他們應許人得以自由,自己卻作敗壞的奴僕,因為人被誰制伏就是誰的奴僕。
KJV While they promise them liberty, they themselves are the servants of corruption: for of whom a man is overcome, of the same is he brought in bondage.
ASV promising them liberty, while they themselves are bondservants of corruption; for of whom a man is overcome, of the same is he also brought into bondage.
YLT liberty to them promising, themselves being servants of the corruption, for by whom any one hath been overcome, to this one also he hath been brought to servitude,
BBE Saying that they will be free, while they themselves are the servants of destruction; because whatever gets the better of a man makes a servant of him.

2:20 和合本 倘若他們因認識主救主耶穌基督,得以脫離世上的污穢,後來又在其中被纏住、制伏,他們末後的景況就比先前更不好了。
KJV For if after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, they are again entangled therein, and overcome, the latter end is worse with them than the beginning.
ASV For if, after they have escaped the defilements of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, they are again entangled therein and overcome, the last state is become worse with them than the first.
YLT for, if having escaped from the pollutions of the world, in the acknowledging of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, and by these again being entangled, they have been overcome, become to them hath the last things worse than the first,

KJV But it is happened unto them according to the true proverb, The dog is turned to his own vomit again; and the sow that was washed to her wallowing in the mire.
ASV It has happened unto them according to the true proverb, The dog turning to his own vomit again, and the sow that had washed to wallowing in the mire.
YLT and happened to them hath that of the true similitude; `A dog did turn back upon his own vomit,' and, `A sow having bathed herself -- to rolling in mire.'
BBE They are an example of that true saying, The dog has gone back to the food it had put out, and the pig which had been washed to its rolling in the dirty earth.
WEB But it has happened to them according to the true proverb, "The dog turns to his own vomit again," and "the sow that had washed to wallowing in the mire."
