14:1 和合本 人為婦人所生,日子短少,多有患難;
KJV Man that is born of a woman is of few days and full of trouble.
ASV Man, that is born of a woman, Is of few days, and full of trouble.
YLT Man, born of woman! Of few days, and full of trouble!
BBE As for man, the son of woman, his days are short and full of trouble.

14:2 和合本 出來如花,又被割下,飛去如影,不能存留。
KJV He cometh forth like a flower, and is cut down: he fleeth also as a shadow, and continueth not.
ASV He cometh forth like a flower, and is cut down: He fleeth also as a shadow, and continueth not.
YLT As a flower he hath gone forth, and is cut off, And he fleeth as a shadow and standeth not.
BBE He comes out like a flower, and is cut down: he goes in flight like a shade, and is never seen again.

14:3 和合本 這樣的人你豈睜眼看他嗎?又叫我來受審嗎?
KJV And doth thou open thine eyes upon such an one, and bringest me into judgment with thee?
ASV And dost thou open thine eyes upon such a one, And bringest me into judgment with thee?
YLT Also -- on this Thou hast opened Thine eyes, And dost bring me into judgment with Thee.
BBE Is it on such a one as this that your eyes are fixed, with the purpose of judging him?

14:4 和合本 誰能使潔淨之物出於污穢之中呢?無論誰也不能!
KJV Who can bring a clean thing out of an unclean? not one.
ASV Who can bring a clean thing out of an unclean? not one.
YLT Who giveth a clean thing out of an unclean? not one.
BBE If only a clean thing might come out of an unclean! But it is not possible.

14:5 和合本 人的日子既然限定,他的月數在你那裡,你也派定他的界限,使他不能越過,
KJV Seeing his days are determined, the number of his months are with thee, thou hast appointed his bounds that he cannot pass;
ASV Seeing his days are determined, The number of his months is with thee, And thou hast appointed his bounds that he cannot pass;
YLT If determined are his days, The number of his months `are' with Thee, His limit Thou hast made, And he passeth not over;
BBE If his days are ordered, and you have knowledge of the number of his months, having given him a fixed limit past which he may not go;

14:6 和合本 便求你轉眼不看他,使他得歇息,直等他像雇工人完畢他的日子。
KJV Turn from him, that he may rest, till he shall accomplish, as an hireling, his day.
ASV Look away from him, that he may rest, Till he shall accomplish, as a hireling, his day.
YLT Look away from off him that he may cease, Till he enjoy as an hireling his day.
BBE Let your eyes be turned away from him, and take your hand from him, so that he may have pleasure at the end of his day, like a servant working for payment.

14:7 和合本 樹若被砍下,還可指望發芽,嫩枝生長不息;
KJV For there is hope of a tree, if it be cut down, that it will sprout again, and that the tender branch thereof will not cease.

14:8 和合本 其根雖然衰老在地裡,幹也死在土中,

14:9 和合本 及至得了水氣,還要發芽,又長枝條,像新栽的樹一樣。
KJV Yet through the scent of water it will bud, and bring forth boughs like a plant.

YLT From the fragrance of water it doth flourish, And hath made a crop as a plant.
BBE Still, at the smell of water, it will make buds, and put out branches like a young plant.

14:10 和合本 但人死亡而消滅;他氣絕,竟在何處呢?
KJV But man dieth, and wasteth away: yea, man giveth up the ghost, and where is he?

YLT And a man dieth, and becometh weak, And man expireth, and where `is' he?
BBE But man comes to his death and is gone: he gives up his spirit, and where is he?

14:11 和合本 海中的水絕盡,江河消散乾涸。
KJV As the waters fail from the sea, and the flood decayeth and drieth up:
ASV `As' the waters fail from the sea, And the river wasteth and drieth up;
YLT Waters have gone away from a sea, And a river becometh waste and dry.
BBE The waters go from a pool, and a river becomes waste and dry;
WEB As the waters fail from the sea,
14:12 和合本 人也是如此,躺下不再起來,等到天沒有了,仍不得復醒,也不得從睡中喚醒。
KJV So man lieth down, and riseth not: till the heavens be no more, they shall not awake, nor be raised out of their sleep.
ASV So man lieth down and riseth not: Till the heavens be no more, they shall not awake, Nor be roused out of their sleep.
YLT And man hath lain down, and riseth not, Till the wearing out of the heavens they awake not, Nor are roused from their sleep.
BBE So man goes down to his last resting-place and comes not again: till the heavens come to an end, they will not be awake or come out of their sleep.

14:13 和合本 惟願你把我藏在陰間,存於隱密處,等你的忿怒過去;願你為我定了日期,記念我。
KJV O that thou wouldest hide me in the grave, that thou wouldest keep me secret, until thy wrath be past, that thou wouldest appoint me a set time, and remember me!
ASV Oh that thou wouldest hide me in Sheol, That thou wouldest keep me secret, until thy wrath be past, That thou wouldest appoint me a set time, and remember me!
YLT O that in Sheol Thou wouldst conceal me, Hide me till the turning of Thine anger, Set for me a limit, and remember me.
BBE If only you would keep me safe in the underworld, putting me in a secret place till your wrath is past, giving me a fixed time when I might come to your memory again!

14:14 和合本 人若死了豈能再活呢?我只要在我一切爭戰的日子,等我被釋放(或作:改變)的時候來到。
KJV If a man die, shall he live again? all the days of my appointed time will I wait, till my change come.
ASV If a man die, shall he live `again'? All the days of my warfare would I wait, Till my release should come.
YLT If a man dieth -- doth he revive? All days of my warfare I wait, till my change come.
BBE If death takes a man, will he come to life again? All the days of my trouble I would be waiting, till the time came for me to be free.

14:15 和合本 你呼叫,我便回答;你手所做的,你必羨慕。
KJV Thou shalt call, and I will answer thee: thou wilt have a desire to the work of thine hands.
ASV Thou wouldest call, and I would answer thee: Thou wouldest have a desire to the work of thy hands.
YLT Thou dost call, and I -- I answer Thee; To the work of Thy hands Thou hast desire.
BBE At the sound of your voice I would give an answer, and you would have a desire for the work of your hands.
WEB You would call, and I would answer you.
14:16 和合本 但如今你數點我的腳步,豈不窺察我的罪過嗎?
KJV For now thou numberest my steps: dost thou not watch over my sin?
ASV But now thou numberest my steps: Dost thou not watch over my sin?
YLT But now, my steps Thou numberest, Thou dost not watch over my sin.
BBE For now my steps are numbered by you, and my sin is not overlooked.
WEB But now you number my steps.
14:17 和合本 我的過犯被你封在囊中,也縫嚴了我的罪孽。
KJV My transgression is sealed up in a bag, and thou sewest up mine iniquity.
ASV My transgression is sealed up in a bag, And thou fastenest up mine iniquity.
YLT Sealed up in a bag `is' my transgression, And Thou sewest up mine iniquity.
BBE My wrongdoing is corded up in a bag, and my sin is shut up safe.

14:18 和合本 山崩變為無有;磐石挪開原處。
KJV And surely the mountains falling cometh to nought, and the rock is removed out of his place.
ASV But the mountain falling cometh to nought; And the rock is removed out of its place;
YLT And yet, a falling mountain wasteth away, And a rock is removed from its place.
BBE But truly a mountain falling comes to dust, and a rock is moved from its place;

14:19 和合本 水流消磨石頭,所流溢的洗去地上的塵土;你也照樣滅絕人的指望。
KJV The waters wear the stones: thou washest away the things which grow out of the dust of the earth; and thou destroyest the hope of man.
ASV The waters wear the stones; The overflowings thereof wash away the dust of the earth: So thou destroyest the hope of man.
YLT Stones have waters worn away, Their outpourings wash away the dust of earth, And the hope of man Thou hast destroyed.
BBE The stones are crushed small by the force of the waters; the dust of the earth is washed away by their overflowing: and so you put an end to the hope of man.

14:20 和合本 你攻擊人常常得勝,使他去世;你改變他的容貌,叫他往而不回。
KJV Thou prevailest for ever against him, and he passeth: thou changest his countenance, and sendest him away.

YLT Thou prevailest `over' him for ever, and he goeth, He is changing his countenance, And Thou sendest him away.

14:21 和合本 他兒子得尊榮,他也不知道,降為卑,他也不覺得。
KJV His sons come to honour, and he knoweth it not; and they are brought low, but he perceiveth it not of them.

YLT Honoured are his sons, and he knoweth not; And they are little, and he attendeth not to them.

14:22 和合本 但知身上疼痛,心中悲哀。
KJV But his flesh upon him shall have pain, and his soul within him shall mourn.

BBE Only his flesh still has pain, and his soul is sad.
