4:1 和合本 提幔人以利法回答說:

4:2 和合本 人若想與你說話,你就厭煩嗎?但誰能忍住不說呢?
KJV If we assay to commune with thee, wilt thou be grieved? but who can withhold himself from speaking?
ASV If one assay to commune with thee, wilt thou be grieved? But who can withhold himself from speaking?
YLT Hath one tried a word with thee? -- Thou art weary! And to keep in words who is able?
BBE If one says a word, will it be a weariness to you? but who is able to keep from saying what is in his mind?
WEB "If someone ventures to talk with you, will you be grieved?
4:3 和合本 你素來教導許多的人,又堅固軟弱的手。
KJV Behold, thou hast instructed many, and thou hast strengthened the weak hands.
ASV Behold, thou hast instructed many, And thou hast strengthened the weak hands.
YLT Lo, thou hast instructed many, And feeble hands thou makest strong.
BBE Truly, you have been a helper to others, and you have made feeble hands strong;
WEB Behold, you have instructed many,
4:4 和合本 你的言語曾扶助那將要跌倒的人;你又使軟弱的膝穩固。
KJV Thy words have upholden him that was falling, and thou hast strengthened the feeble knees.
ASV Thy words have upholden him that was falling, And thou hast made firm the feeble knees.
YLT The stumbling one do thy words raise up, And bowing knees thou dost strengthen.
BBE He who was near to falling has been lifted up by your words, and you have given strength to bent knees.
WEB Your words have supported him who was falling,
4:5 和合本 但現在禍患臨到你,你就昏迷,挨近你,你便驚惶。
KJV But now it is come upon thee, and thou faintest; it toucheth thee, and thou art troubled.
ASV But now it is come unto thee, and thou faintest; It toucheth thee, and thou art troubled.
YLT But now, it cometh in unto thee, And thou art weary; It striketh unto thee, and thou art troubled.
BBE But now it has come on you and it is a weariness to you; you are touched by it and your mind is troubled.
WEB But now it is come to you, and you faint;
4:6 和合本 你的倚靠不是在你敬畏神嗎?你的盼望不是在你行事純正嗎?
KJV Is not this thy fear, thy confidence, thy hope, and the uprightness of thy ways?
ASV Is not thy fear `of God' thy confidence, `And' the integrity of thy ways thy hope?
YLT Is not thy reverence thy confidence? Thy hope -- the perfection of thy ways?
BBE Is not your fear of God your support, and your upright way of life your hope?
WEB Isn't your piety your confidence,
4:7 和合本 請你追想:無辜的人有誰滅亡?正直的人在何處剪除?
KJV Remember, I pray thee, who ever perished, being innocent? or where were the righteous cut off?
ASV Remember, I pray thee, who `ever' perished, being innocent? Or where were the upright cut off?
YLT Remember, I pray thee, Who, being innocent, hath perished? And where have the upright been cut off?
BBE Have you ever seen destruction come to an upright man? or when were the god-fearing ever cut off?
WEB "Remember, now, whoever perished, being innocent?
4:8 和合本 按我所見,耕罪孽、種毒害的人都照樣收割。
KJV Even as I have seen, they that plow iniquity, and sow wickedness, reap the same.
ASV According as I have seen, they that plow iniquity, And sow trouble, reap the same.
YLT As I have seen -- ploughers of iniquity, And sowers of misery, reap it!
BBE What I have seen is that those by whom trouble has been ploughed, and evil planted, get the same for themselves.
WEB According to what I have seen, those who plow iniquity,
4:9 和合本 神一出氣,他們就滅亡;神一發怒,他們就消沒。
KJV By the blast of God they perish, and by the breath of his nostrils are they consumed.
ASV By the breath of God they perish, And by the blast of his anger are they consumed.
YLT From the breath of God they perish, And from the spirit of His anger consumed.
BBE By the breath of God destruction takes them, and by the wind of his wrath they are cut off.
WEB By the breath of God they perish,
4:10 和合本 獅子的吼叫和猛獅的聲音盡都止息;少壯獅子的牙齒也都敲掉。
KJV The roaring of the lion, and the voice of the fierce lion, and the teeth of the young lions, are broken.
ASV The roaring of the lion, and the voice of the fierce lion, And the teeth of the young lions, are broken.
YLT The roaring of a lion, And the voice of a fierce lion, And teeth of young lions have been broken.
BBE Though the noise of the lion and the sounding of his voice, may be loud, the teeth of the young lions are broken.
WEB The roaring of the lion, and the voice of the fierce lion,
4:11 和合本 老獅子因絕食而死;母獅之子也都離散。
KJV The old lion perisheth for lack of prey, and the stout lion's whelps are scattered abroad.
ASV The old lion perisheth for lack of prey, And the whelps of the lioness are scattered abroad.
YLT An old lion is perishing without prey, And the whelps of the lioness do separate.
BBE The old lion comes to his end for need of food, and the young of the she-lion go wandering in all directions.
WEB The old lion perishes for lack of prey,
4:12 和合本 我暗暗的得了默示;我耳朵也聽其細微的聲音。
KJV Now a thing was secretly brought to me, and mine ear received a little thereof.
ASV Now a thing was secretly brought to me, And mine ear received a whisper thereof.
YLT And unto me a thing is secretly brought, And receive doth mine ear a little of it.
BBE A word was given to me secretly, and the low sound of it came to my ears.

4:13 和合本 在思念夜中、異象之間,世人沉睡的時候,
KJV In thoughts from the visions of the night, when deep sleep falleth on men,

4:14 和合本 恐懼、戰兢臨到我身,使我百骨打戰。
KJV Fear came upon me, and trembling, which made all my bones to shake.
ASV Fear came upon me, and trembling, Which made all my bones to shake.
YLT Fear hath met me, and trembling, And the multitude of my bones caused to fear.
BBE Fear came on me and shaking, and my bones were full of trouble;
WEB Fear came on me, and trembling,
4:15 和合本 有靈從我面前經過,我身上的毫毛直立。
KJV Then a spirit passed before my face; the hair of my flesh stood up:
ASV Then a spirit passed before my face; The hair of my flesh stood up.
YLT And a spirit before my face doth pass, Stand up doth the hair of my flesh;
BBE And a breath was moving over my face; the hair of my flesh became stiff:

4:16 和合本 那靈停住,我卻不能辨其形狀;有影像在我眼前。我在靜默中聽見有聲音說:
KJV It stood still, but I could not discern the form thereof: an image was before mine eyes, there was silence, and I heard a voice, saying,
ASV It stood still, but I could not discern the appearance thereof; A form was before mine eyes: `There was' silence, and I heard a voice, `saying',
YLT It standeth, and I discern not its aspect, A similitude `is' over-against mine eyes, Silence! and a voice I hear:
BBE Something was present before me, but I was not able to see it clearly; there was a form before my eyes: a quiet voice came to my ears, saying:
WEB It stood still, but I couldn't discern the appearance of it;
4:17 和合本 必死的人豈能比神公義嗎?人豈能比造他的主潔淨嗎?
KJV Shall mortal man be more just than God? shall a man be more pure than his maker?
ASV Shall mortal man be more just than God? Shall a man be more pure than his Maker?
YLT `Is mortal man than God more righteous? Than his Maker is a man cleaner?
BBE May a man be upright before God? or a man be clean before his Maker?
WEB Shall mortal man be more just than God?
4:18 和合本 主不信靠他的臣僕,並且指他的使者為愚昧;
KJV Behold, he put no trust in his servants; and his angels he charged with folly:
ASV Behold, he putteth no trust in his servants; And his angels he chargeth with folly:
YLT Lo, in His servants He putteth no credence, Nor in His messengers setteth praise.'
BBE Truly, he puts no faith in his servants, and he sees error in his angels;
WEB Behold, he puts no trust in his servants.
4:19 和合本 何況那住在土房、根基在塵土裡、被蠹蟲所毀壞的人呢?
KJV How much less in them that dwell in houses of clay, whose foundation is in the dust, which are crushed before the moth?
ASV How much more them that dwell in houses of clay, Whose foundation is in the dust, Who are crushed before the moth!
YLT Also -- the inhabitants of houses of clay, (Whose foundation `is' in the dust, They bruise them before a moth.)
BBE How much more those living in houses of earth, whose bases are in the dust! They are crushed more quickly than an insect;
WEB How much more, those who dwell in houses of clay,
4:20 和合本 早晚之間,就被毀滅,永歸無有,無人理會。
KJV They are destroyed from morning to evening: they perish for ever without any regarding it.
ASV Betwixt morning and evening they are destroyed: They perish for ever without any regarding it.
YLT From morning to evening are beaten down, Without any regarding, for ever they perish.
BBE Between morning and evening they are completely broken; they come to an end for ever, and no one takes note.
WEB Between morning and evening they are destroyed.
4:21 和合本 他帳棚的繩索豈不從中抽出來呢?他死,且是無智慧而死。
KJV Doth not their excellency which is in them go away? they die, even without wisdom.
ASV Is not their tent-cord plucked up within them? They die, and that without wisdom.
YLT Hath not their excellency been removed with them? They die, and not in wisdom!
BBE If their tent-cord is pulled up, do they not come to an end, and without wisdom?
WEB Isn't their tent cord plucked up within them?
