14:1 和合本 智慧婦人建立家室;愚妄婦人親手拆毀。
KJV Every wise woman buildeth her house: but the foolish plucketh it down with her hands.
ASV Every wise woman buildeth her house; But the foolish plucketh it down with her own hands.
YLT Every wise woman hath builded her house, And the foolish with her hands breaketh it down.
BBE Wisdom is building her house, but the foolish woman is pulling it down with her hands.

14:2 和合本 行動正直的,敬畏耶和華;行事乖僻的,卻藐視他。
KJV He that walketh in his uprightness feareth the LORD: but he that is perverse in his ways despiseth him.
ASV He that walketh in his uprightness feareth Jehovah; But he that is perverse in his ways despiseth him.
YLT Whoso is walking in his uprightness is fearing Jehovah, And the perverted `in' his ways is despising Him.
BBE He who goes on his way in righteousness has before him the fear of the Lord; but he whose ways are twisted gives him no honour.
WEB He who walks in his uprightness fears Yahweh,
14:3 和合本 愚妄人口中驕傲,如杖責打己身;智慧人的嘴必保守自己。
KJV In the mouth of the foolish is a rod of pride: but the lips of the wise shall preserve them.
ASV In the mouth of the foolish is a rod for `his' pride; But the lips of the wise shall preserve them.
YLT In the mouth of a fool `is' a rod of pride, And the lips of the wise preserve them.
BBE In the mouth of the foolish man is a rod for his back, but the lips of the wise will keep them safe.

14:4 和合本 家裡無牛,槽頭乾淨;土產加多乃憑牛力。
KJV Where no oxen are, the crib is clean: but much increase is by the strength of the ox.
ASV Where no oxen are, the crib is clean; But much increase is by the strength of the ox.
YLT Without oxen a stall `is' clean, And great `is' the increase by the power of the ox.
BBE Where there are no oxen, their food-place is clean; but much increase comes through the strength of the ox.

14:5 和合本 誠實見證人不說謊話;假見證人吐出謊言。
KJV A faithful witness will not lie: but a false witness will utter lies.
ASV A faithful witness will not lie; But a false witness uttereth lies.
YLT A faithful witness lieth not, And a false witness breatheth out lies.
BBE A true witness does not say what is false, but a false witness is breathing out deceit.
WEB A truthful witness will not lie,
14:6 和合本 褻慢人尋智慧,卻尋不著;聰明人易得知識。
KJV A scorner seeketh wisdom, and findeth it not: but knowledge is easy unto him that understandeth.
ASV A scoffer seeketh wisdom, and `findeth it' not; But knowledge is easy unto him that hath understanding.
YLT A scorner hath sought wisdom, and it is not, And knowledge to the intelligent `is' easy.
BBE The hater of authority, searching for wisdom, does not get it; but knowledge comes readily to the open-minded man.
WEB A scoffer seeks wisdom, and doesn't find it,
14:7 和合本 到愚昧人面前,不見他嘴中有知識。
KJV Go from the presence of a foolish man, when thou perceivest not in him the lips of knowledge.
ASV Go into the presence of a foolish man, And thou shalt not perceive `in him' the lips of knowledge.
YLT Go from before a foolish man, Or thou hast not known the lips of knowledge.
BBE Go away from the foolish man, for you will not see the lips of knowledge.

14:8 和合本 通達人的智慧在乎明白己道;愚昧人的愚妄乃是詭詐(或作:自歎)。
KJV The wisdom of the prudent is to understand his way: but the folly of fools is deceit.
ASV The wisdom of the prudent is to understand his way; But the folly of fools is deceit.
YLT The wisdom of the prudent `is' to understand his way, And the folly of fools `is' deceit.
BBE The wisdom of the man of good sense makes his way clear; but the unwise behaviour of the foolish is deceit.

14:9 和合本 愚妄人犯罪,以為戲耍(或作:贖愆祭愚弄愚妄人);正直人互相喜悅。
KJV Fools make a mock at sin: but among the righteous there is favour.
ASV A trespass-offering mocketh fools; But among the upright there is good will.
YLT Fools mock at a guilt-offering, And among the upright -- a pleasing thing.
BBE In the tents of those hating authority there is error, but in the house of the upright man there is grace.

14:10 和合本 心中的苦楚,自己知道;心裡的喜樂,外人無干。
KJV The heart knoweth his own bitterness; and a stranger doth not intermeddle with his joy.

YLT The heart knoweth its own bitterness, And with its joy a stranger doth not intermeddle.
BBE No one has knowledge of a man's grief but himself; and a strange person has no part in his joy.

14:11 和合本 奸惡人的房屋必傾倒;正直人的帳棚必興盛。
KJV The house of the wicked shall be overthrown: but the tabernacle of the upright shall flourish.
ASV The house of the wicked shall be overthrown; But the tent of the upright shall flourish.
YLT The house of the wicked is destroyed, And the tent of the upright flourisheth.
BBE The house of the sinner will be overturned, but the tent of the upright man will do well.

14:12 和合本 有一條路,人以為正,至終成為死亡之路。
KJV There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.

14:13 和合本 人在喜笑中,心也憂愁;快樂至極就生愁苦。
KJV Even in laughter the heart is sorrowful; and the end of that mirth is heaviness.

YLT Even in laughter is the heart pained, And the latter end of joy `is' affliction.

14:14 和合本 心中背道的,必滿得自己的結果;善人必從自己的行為得以知足。
KJV The backslider in heart shall be filled with his own ways: and a good man shall be satisfied from himself.

YLT From his ways is the backslider in heart filled, And a good man -- from his fruits.
BBE He whose heart is turned away will have the reward of his ways in full measure; but a good man will have the reward of his doings.

14:15 和合本 愚蒙人是話都信;通達人步步謹慎。
KJV The simple believeth every word: but the prudent man looketh well to his going.
ASV The simple believeth every word; But the prudent man looketh well to his going.
YLT The simple giveth credence to everything, And the prudent attendeth to his step.
BBE The simple man has faith in every word, but the man of good sense gives thought to his footsteps.

14:16 和合本 智慧人懼怕,就遠離惡事;愚妄人卻狂傲自恃。
KJV A wise man feareth, and departeth from evil: but the fool rageth, and is confident.
ASV A wise man feareth, and departeth from evil; But the fool beareth himself insolently, and is confident.
YLT The wise is fearing and turning from evil, And a fool is transgressing and is confident.
BBE The wise man, fearing, keeps himself from evil; but the foolish man goes on in his pride, with no thought of danger.
WEB A wise man fears, and shuns evil,
14:17 和合本 輕易發怒的,行事愚妄;設立詭計的,被人恨惡。
KJV He that is soon angry dealeth foolishly: and a man of wicked devices is hated.
ASV He that is soon angry will deal foolishly; And a man of wicked devices is hated.
YLT Whoso is short of temper doth folly, And a man of wicked devices is hated.
BBE He who is quickly angry will do what is foolish, but the man of good sense will have quiet.
WEB He who is quick to become angry will commit folly,
14:18 和合本 愚蒙人得愚昧為產業;通達人得知識為冠冕。
KJV The simple inherit folly: but the prudent are crowned with knowledge.
ASV The simple inherit folly; But the prudent are crowned with knowledge.
YLT The simple have inherited folly, And the prudent are crowned `with' knowledge.
BBE Foolish behaviour is the heritage of the simple, but men of good sense are crowned with knowledge.

14:19 和合本 壞人俯伏在善人面前;惡人俯伏在義人門口。
KJV The evil bow before the good; and the wicked at the gates of the righteous.
ASV The evil bow down before the good; And the wicked, at the gates of the righteous.
YLT The evil have bowed down before the good, And the wicked at the gates of the righteous.
BBE The knees of the evil are bent before the good; and sinners go down in the dust at the doors of the upright.

14:20 和合本 貧窮人連鄰舍也恨他;富足人朋友最多。
KJV The poor is hated even of his own neighbour: but the rich hath many friends.
ASV The poor is hated even of his own neighbor; But the rich hath many friends.
YLT Even of his neighbour is the poor hated, And those loving the rich `are' many.
BBE The poor man is hated even by his neighbour, but the man of wealth has numbers of friends.
WEB The poor person is shunned even by his own neighbor,
14:21 和合本 藐視鄰舍的,這人有罪;憐憫貧窮的,這人有福。
KJV He that despiseth his neighbour sinneth: but he that hath mercy on the poor, happy is he.
ASV He that despiseth his neighbor sinneth; But he that hath pity on the poor, happy is he.
YLT Whoso is despising his neighbour sinneth, Whoso is favouring the humble, O his happiness.
BBE He who has no respect for his neighbour is a sinner, but he who has pity for the poor is happy.

14:22 和合本 謀惡的,豈非走入迷途嗎?謀善的,必得慈愛和誠實。
KJV Do they not err that devise evil? but mercy and truth shall be to them that devise good.
ASV Do they not err that devise evil? But mercy and truth `shall be to' them that devise good.
YLT Do not they err who are devising evil? And kindness and truth `are' to those devising good,
BBE Will not the designers of evil come into error? But mercy and good faith are for the designers of good.

14:23 和合本 諸般勤勞都有益處;嘴上多言乃致窮乏。
KJV In all labour there is profit: but the talk of the lips tendeth only to penury.
ASV In all labor there is profit; But the talk of the lips `tendeth' only to penury.
YLT In all labour there is advantage, And a thing of the lips `is' only to want.
BBE In all hard work there is profit, but talk only makes a man poor.

14:24 和合本 智慧人的財為自己的冠冕;愚妄人的愚昧終是愚昧。
KJV The crown of the wise is their riches: but the foolishness of fools is folly.
ASV The crown of the wise is their riches; `But' the folly of fools is `only' folly.
YLT The crown of the wise is their wealth, The folly of fools `is' folly.
BBE Their wisdom is a crown to the wise, but their foolish behaviour is round the head of the unwise.

14:25 和合本 作真見證的,救人性命;吐出謊言的,施行詭詐。
KJV A true witness delivereth souls: but a deceitful witness speaketh lies.

YLT A true witness is delivering souls, And a deceitful one breatheth out lies.
BBE A true witness is the saviour of lives; but he who says false things is a cause of deceit.

14:26 和合本 敬畏耶和華的,大有倚靠;他的兒女也有避難所。
KJV In the fear of the LORD is strong confidence: and his children shall have a place of refuge.
ASV In the fear of Jehovah is strong confidence; And his children shall have a place of refuge.
YLT In the fear of Jehovah `is' strong confidence, And to His sons there is a refuge.
BBE For him in whose heart is the fear of the Lord there is strong hope: and his children will have a safe place.

14:28 和合本 帝王榮耀在乎民多;君王衰敗在乎民少。
KJV In the multitude of people is the king's honour: but in the want of people is the destruction of the prince.
ASV In the multitude of people is the king's glory; But in the want of people is the destruction of the prince.
YLT In the multitude of a people `is' the honour of a king, And in lack of people the ruin of a prince.
BBE A king's glory is in the number of his people: and for need of people a ruler may come to destruction.

14:29 和合本 不輕易發怒的,大有聰明;性情暴躁的,大顯愚妄。
KJV He that is slow to wrath is of great understanding: but he that is hasty of spirit exalteth folly.
ASV He that is slow to anger is of great understanding; But he that is hasty of spirit exalteth folly.
YLT Whoso is slow to anger `is' of great understanding, And whoso is short in temper is exalting folly.
BBE He who is slow to be angry has great good sense; but he whose spirit is over-quick gives support to what is foolish.

14:30 和合本 心中安靜是肉體的生命;嫉妒是骨中的朽爛。
KJV A sound heart is the life of the flesh: but envy the rottenness of the bones.
ASV A tranquil heart is the life of the flesh; But envy is the rottenness of the bones.
YLT A healed heart `is' life to the flesh, And rottenness to the bones `is' envy.
BBE A quiet mind is the life of the body, but envy is a disease in the bones.
WEB The life of the body is a heart at peace,
14:31 和合本 欺壓貧寒的,是辱沒造他的主;憐憫窮乏的,乃是尊敬主。
KJV He that oppresseth the poor reproacheth his Maker: but he that honoureth him hath mercy on the poor.
ASV He that oppresseth the poor reproacheth his Maker; But he that hath mercy on the needy honoreth him.
YLT An oppressor of the poor reproacheth his Maker, And whoso is honouring Him Is favouring the needy.
BBE He who is hard on the poor puts shame on his Maker; but he who has mercy on those who are in need gives him honour.

14:32 和合本 惡人在所行的惡上必被推倒;義人臨死,有所投靠。
KJV The wicked is driven away in his wickedness: but the righteous hath hope in his death.
ASV The wicked is thrust down in his evil-doing; But the righteous hath a refuge in his death.
YLT In his wickedness is the wicked driven away, And trustful in his death `is' the righteous.
BBE The sinner is overturned in his evil-doing, but the upright man has hope in his righteousness.

14:33 和合本 智慧存在聰明人心中;愚昧人心裡所存的,顯而易見。
KJV Wisdom resteth in the heart of him that hath understanding: but that which is in the midst of fools is made known.
ASV Wisdom resteth in the heart of him that hath understanding; But `that which is' in the inward part of fools is made known.
YLT In the heart of the intelligent wisdom doth rest. And in the midst of fools it is known.
BBE Wisdom has her resting-place in the mind of the wise, but she is not seen among the foolish.
WEB Wisdom rests in the heart of one who has understanding,
14:34 和合本 公義使邦國高舉;罪惡是人民的羞辱。
KJV Righteousness exalteth a nation: but sin is a reproach to any people.
ASV Righteousness exalteth a nation; But sin is a reproach to any people.
YLT Righteousness exalteth a nation, And the goodliness of peoples `is' a sin-offering.
BBE By righteousness a nation is lifted up, but sin is a cause of shame to the peoples.

14:35 和合本 智慧的臣子蒙王恩惠;貽羞的僕人遭其震怒。
KJV The king's favour is toward a wise servant: but his wrath is against him that causeth shame.
ASV The king's favor is toward a servant that dealeth wisely; But his wrath will be `against' him that causeth shame.
YLT The favour of a king `is' to a wise servant, And an object of his wrath is one causing shame!
BBE The king has pleasure in a servant who does wisely, but his wrath is against him who is a cause of shame.
