4:1 和合本 眾子啊,要聽父親的教訓,留心得知聰明。
KJV Hear, ye children, the instruction of a father, and attend to know understanding.
ASV Hear, `my' sons, the instruction of a father, And attend to know understanding:
YLT Hear, ye sons, the instruction of a father, And give attention to know understanding.
BBE Give ear, my sons, to the teaching of a father; give attention so that you may have knowledge:
WEB Listen, sons, to a father's instruction.
4:2 和合本 因我所給你們的是好教訓;不可離棄我的法則(或作:指教)。
KJV For I give you good doctrine, forsake ye not my law.
ASV For I give you good doctrine; Forsake ye not my law.
YLT For good learning I have given to you, My law forsake not.
BBE For I give you good teaching; do not give up the knowledge you are getting from me.
WEB For I give you sound learning.
4:3 和合本 我在父親面前為孝子,在母親眼中為獨一的嬌兒。
KJV For I was my father's son, tender and only beloved in the sight of my mother.
ASV For I was a son unto my father, Tender and only beloved in the sight of my mother.
YLT For, a son I have been to my father -- tender, And an only one before my mother.

4:4 和合本 父親教訓我說:你心要存記我的言語,遵守我的命令,便得存活。
KJV He taught me also, and said unto me, Let thine heart retain my words: keep my commandments, and live.
ASV And he taught me, and said unto me: Let thy heart retain my words; Keep my commandments, and live;
YLT And he directeth me, and he saith to me: `Let thy heart retain my words, Keep my commands, and live.

4:5 和合本 要得智慧,要得聰明,不可忘記,也不可偏離我口中的言語。
KJV Get wisdom, get understanding: forget it not; neither decline from the words of my mouth.
ASV Get wisdom, get understanding; Forget not, neither decline from the words of my mouth;
YLT Get wisdom, get understanding, Do not forget, nor turn away From the sayings of my mouth.
BBE Get wisdom, get true knowledge; keep it in memory, do not be turned away from the words of my mouth.

4:6 和合本 不可離棄智慧,智慧就護衛你;要愛他,他就保守你。
KJV Forsake her not, and she shall preserve thee: love her, and she shall keep thee.
ASV Forsake her not, and she will preserve thee; Love her, and she will keep thee.
YLT Forsake her not, and she doth preserve thee, Love her, and she doth keep thee.
BBE Do not give her up, and she will keep you; give her your love, and she will make you safe.

4:7 和合本 智慧為首;所以,要得智慧。在你一切所得之內必得聰明(或作:用你一切所得的去換聰明)。
KJV Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding.
ASV Wisdom `is' the principal thing; `therefore' get wisdom; Yea, with all thy getting get understanding.
YLT The first thing `is' wisdom -- get wisdom, And with all thy getting get understanding.
BBE The first sign of wisdom is to get wisdom; go, give all you have to get true knowledge.
WEB Wisdom is supreme.
4:8 和合本 高舉智慧,他就使你高陞;懷抱智慧,他就使你尊榮。
KJV Exalt her, and she shall promote thee: she shall bring thee to honour, when thou dost embrace her.
ASV Exalt her, and she will promote thee; She will bring thee to honor, when thou dost embrace her.
YLT Exalt her, and she doth lift thee up, She honoureth thee, when thou dost embrace her.
BBE Put her in a high place, and you will be lifted up by her; she will give you honour, when you give her your love.
WEB Esteem her, and she will exalt you.
4:9 和合本 他必將華冠加在你頭上,把榮冕交給你。
KJV She shall give to thine head an ornament of grace: a crown of glory shall she deliver to thee.
ASV She will give to thy head a chaplet of grace; A crown of beauty will she deliver to thee.
YLT She giveth to thy head a wreath of grace, A crown of beauty she doth give thee freely.
BBE She will put a crown of grace on your head, giving you a head-dress of glory.
WEB She will give to your head a garland of grace.
4:10 和合本 我兒,你要聽受我的言語,就必延年益壽。
KJV Hear, O my son, and receive my sayings; and the years of thy life shall be many.
ASV Hear, O my son, and receive my sayings; And the years of thy life shall be many.
YLT Hear, my son, and receive my sayings, And years of life `are' multiplied to thee.
BBE Give ear, O my son, and let your heart be open to my sayings; and long life will be yours.
WEB Listen, my son, and receive my sayings.
4:11 和合本 我已指教你走智慧的道,引導你行正直的路。
KJV I have taught thee in the way of wisdom; I have led thee in right paths.
ASV I have taught thee in the way of wisdom; I have led thee in paths of uprightness.
YLT In a way of wisdom I have directed thee, I have caused thee to tread in paths of uprightness.
BBE I have given you teaching in the way of wisdom, guiding your steps in the straight way.
WEB I have taught you in the way of wisdom.
4:12 和合本 你行走,腳步必不至狹窄;你奔跑,也不至跌倒。
KJV When thou goest, thy steps shall not be straitened; and when thou runnest, thou shalt not stumble.
ASV When thou goest, thy steps shall not be straitened; And if thou runnest, thou shalt not stumble.
YLT In thy walking thy step is not straitened, And if thou runnest, thou stumblest not.
BBE When you go, your way will not be narrow, and in running you will not have a fall.
WEB When you go, your steps will not be hampered.
4:13 和合本 要持定訓誨,不可放鬆;必當謹守,因為他是你的生命。
KJV Take fast hold of instruction; let her not go: keep her; for she is thy life.
ASV Take fast hold of instruction; let her not go: Keep her; for she is thy life.
YLT Lay hold on instruction, do not desist, Keep her, for she `is' thy life.
BBE Take learning in your hands, do not let her go: keep her, for she is your life.
WEB Take firm hold of instruction.
4:14 和合本 不可行惡人的路;不要走壞人的道。
KJV Enter not into the path of the wicked, and go not in the way of evil men.
ASV Enter not into the path of the wicked, And walk not in the way of evil men.
YLT Into the path of the wicked enter not, And be not happy in a way of evil doers.
BBE Do not go in the road of sinners, or be walking in the way of evil men.
WEB Don't enter into the path of the wicked.
4:15 和合本 要躲避,不可經過;要轉身而去。
KJV Avoid it, pass not by it, turn from it, and pass away.
ASV Avoid it, pass not by it; Turn from it, and pass on.
YLT Avoid it, pass not over into it, Turn aside from it, and pass on.
BBE Keep far from it, do not go near; be turned from it, and go on your way.

4:16 和合本 這等人若不行惡,不得睡覺;不使人跌倒,睡臥不安;
KJV For they sleep not, except they have done mischief; and their sleep is taken away, unless they cause some to fall.
ASV For they sleep not, except they do evil; And their sleep is taken away, unless they cause some to fall.
YLT For they sleep not if they do not evil, And their sleep hath been taken violently away, If they cause not `some' to stumble.
BBE For they take no rest till they have done evil; their sleep is taken away if they have not been the cause of someone's fall.
WEB For they don't sleep, unless they do evil.
4:17 和合本 因為他們以奸惡吃餅,以強暴喝酒。
KJV For they eat the bread of wickedness, and drink the wine of violence.
ASV For they eat the bread of wickedness, And drink the wine of violence.
YLT For they have eaten bread of wickedness, And wine of violence they drink.
BBE The bread of evil-doing is their food, the wine of violent acts their drink.

4:18 和合本 但義人的路好像黎明的光,越照越明,直到日午。
KJV But the path of the just is as the shining light, that shineth more and more unto the perfect day.
ASV But the path of the righteous is as the dawning light, That shineth more and more unto the perfect day.
YLT And the path of the righteous `is' as a shining light, Going and brightening till the day is established,
BBE But the way of the upright is like the light of early morning, getting brighter and brighter till the full day.
WEB But the path of the righteous is like the dawning light,
4:19 和合本 惡人的道好像幽暗,自己不知因什麼跌倒。
KJV The way of the wicked is as darkness: they know not at what they stumble.
ASV The way of the wicked is as darkness: They know not at what they stumble.
YLT The way of the wicked `is' as darkness, They have not known at what they stumble.
BBE The way of sinners is dark; they see not the cause of their fall.

4:20 和合本 我兒,要留心聽我的言詞,側耳聽我的話語,

4:21 和合本 都不可離你的眼目,要存記在你心中。
KJV Let them not depart from thine eyes; keep them in the midst of thine heart.

YLT Let them not turn aside from thine eyes, Preserve them in the midst of thy heart.

4:22 和合本 因為得著他的,就得了生命,又得了醫全體的良藥。
KJV For they are life unto those that find them, and health to all their flesh.

4:23 和合本 你要保守你心,勝過保守一切(或作:你要切切保守你心),因為一生的果效是由心發出。

4:24 和合本 你要除掉邪僻的口,棄絕乖謬的嘴。

BBE Put away from you an evil tongue, and let false lips be far from you.

4:25 和合本 你的眼目要向前正看;你的眼睛(原文作皮)當向前直觀。
KJV Let thine eyes look right on, and let thine eyelids look straight before thee.

4:26 和合本 要修平你腳下的路,堅定你一切的道。

4:27 和合本 不可偏向左右;要使你的腳離開邪惡。
KJV Turn not to the right hand nor to the left: remove thy foot from evil.
