第二天的主題是關於性侵害與同意權 (Sexual Assault and Consent),這一小時的課程很有趣,有三個主要單元:1. sexual assault, sexual harassment, and abuse. 2. Consent, 3. Myths and Facts,其中穿插二個很有趣的影片。開場的影片是 What If Bears Killed One In Five People? 提醒大家不要以為發生性侵的機率小就可以置身事外(https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LNVFPkmZTQ4)。講座的第一部份定義什麼是sexual assault, sexual harassment, and abuse. 我學到一些單字,如sexual battery, statutory rape, sexting;第二個部份Consent,提到過去認為同意是”說不就是不!”(No means no),現在的同意是”說好才是好!”(Yes means yes)。在某些狀況下當事人沒有能力同意,例如:酒醉、當事人年齡介於 14-17歲而另一方是成人、power dynamics (對方有權勢,如教練、老師,...); 第三部份是迷思與事實(myths and facts), 更正一般人的錯誤印象,如男人不會被性侵、性侵是因為加害人無法控制荷爾蒙或性慾、大部份性侵是陌生人犯下...等錯誤印象,我印象最深刻的是FBI 整理的連續性侵犯的特徵: young, athletic, stylish, charming, social, college educated, married and has kids. 第二段影片Tea and Consent很有趣,用兩人喝茶來比喻性行為的合意與否(https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pZwvrxVavnQ)。
第三天的題目是Gender Identity & Expression。內容分為二大部份:Gender Roles 和 Gender and Sexuality。第一部份Gender Roles 著重於性別的刻版印象,講員用四個性別的刻版印象來表達可能造成的負面後果。第二部份Gender and Sexuality,講員用有名的薑餅人來區分生理性別(biological sex)、性別認同(sexual identity), 性別表達(sexual expression)、性傾向(sexual orientation)的定義,講員多次重覆這一句話:我們不能與另一個人爭論其性向,因為我們沒有那個人的經歷。(We cannot argue with another when we don’t have their experience.) 最後,講員談到按統計數字,現場300個學生大約有3個人會是 intersex (跨性別者),但我女兒的老師私下跟我說這個估計是錯的,目前研究指出大約每2000人才有一個人是 intersex,我也私下和老師提出我的疑問:講員強調同性戀是因為染色體和荷爾蒙所導致,而一個人不能改變自己的染色體,教材中的內容大多基於這個假設。但是,這真的是完整的科研發現嗎?實際上的研究發現同性戀的形成有先天和後天的因素,目前的科學並未定論染色體在性向上有決定性的角色。
