約2:23當耶穌在耶路撒冷過逾越節的時候，有許多人看見他所行的神蹟，就信了他的名。
24耶穌卻不將自己交託他們；因為他知道萬人，25也用不著誰見證人怎樣，因他知道人心裡所存的。
23 Now when he was in Jerusalem at the Passover Feast, many believed in his name when they saw the signs that he was doing.
24 But Jesus on his part did not entrust himself to them, because he knew all people 25 and needed no one to bear witness about man, for he himself knew what was in man.

耶穌在必要的時候也行神蹟，為要證明祂是神，祂有這樣做的權柄。但是有些時候，祂不願意把神蹟奇事顯給那些特別為神蹟而來的人；而且在耶穌的言論裡也顯示，祂輕看那些只為神蹟到祂面前來的人。

帖前 1:5 因為我們的福音傳到你們那裡，不獨在乎言語，也在乎權能和聖靈，並充足的信心，正如你們知道、我們在你們那裡，為你們的緣故是怎樣為人。
1Thessalonians 1:5 because our gospel came to you not only in word, but also in power and in the Holy Spirit and with full conviction. You know what kind of men we proved to be among you for your sake.

徒 1:8 但聖靈降臨在你們身上，你們就必得著能力，並要在耶路撒冷、猶太全地，和撒瑪利亞，直到地極，作我的見證。」
8 But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”

a)-inherent power, power residing in a thing by virtue of its nature, or which a person or thing exerts and puts forth
b)-power for performing miracles
c)-moral power and excellence of soul

聖靈內住，使基督徒能活出見證主死而復活的大能。「權能」原意是指「有能力叫人悔改」，「有能力使人歸正」，「有能力使人信仰耶穌基督是救主」的那耶個權柄。不是只有醫病的權柄才是權柄。
